Rules
One square, two responsibilities.
Use 1–9 once in every row, column, and 3×3 box of each of the five grids. A blue overlap is one shared 3×3 box: a number entered there belongs to both grids. There is no extra rule for a 21-square line across the whole layout.
First moves
Carry information through an overlap.
Scan an outer grid for a nearly complete row or box. When its missing number lands in a blue square, scan the matching row and column of the center grid. The new placement may unlock an area that had no useful clues before. Hint identifies one forced move without filling it for you.
Print & save
Take the five-grid puzzle to paper.
Choose Print puzzle and leave Include answer key checked for a separate solution page. Your browser can print or save the output as a PDF. Screen entries and notes are left off the worksheet. Online progress saves in this browser; New puzzle generates a fresh board with exactly one solution. Restart keeps your current puzzle.
Samurai Sudoku: questions before you play
What is Samurai Sudoku?
Samurai Sudoku combines five overlapping 9×9 Sudoku grids. The four corner boxes of the center grid are shared with the four outside grids. All five grids follow the usual row, column, and box rules.
Can I play Samurai Sudoku online for free?
Yes. Choose a square, then use the number pad or keyboard. Freshly generated, uniquely solvable puzzles include notes, undo, logical hints, checks, a timer, and local saved progress without an account.
Can I download printable Samurai Sudoku with answers?
Use Print puzzle with Include answer key checked. In the browser print dialog, choose your printer or Save as PDF. The puzzle and its solution appear on separate pages.
Is the whole Samurai board a 21×21 Sudoku?
No. Its layout is 21 squares wide, but only 369 squares are active. Apply 1–9 to the rows, columns, and boxes within each individual 9×9 grid.
Does every new puzzle have one solution?
Yes. New puzzle generates fresh clues in your browser and checks that there is exactly one solution before the board opens. Restart repeats your current puzzle, and saved progress resumes it.
